Newcastle United have ‘made enquiries’ to Zenit St Petersburg’s directors regarding a potential deal for forward Malcom.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the Brazilian has also been offered to Paris Saint Germain this month.
They explain that the French side have been offered Malcom as it is well known they are looking for an attacking reinforcement before the end of the winter transfer window.
Reports in Spain have made it clear that he has been presented as an option as he fits the profile of what the French giants are looking for and knows Ligue 1 well after a spell at Bordeaux earlier in his career.
FM confirm this is the case, adding that PSG sporting director Luis Campos likes the player’s profile and is studying the possibility of a deal.
However, they could face competition from Newcastle, who have ‘made enquiries’ to Zenit’s directors about the player.
They are keen to add to their squad to build on a superb first half of the season and in particular need to strengthen their options on the wings, particularly as Allan Saint Maximin has been linked with a move away from St James Park.
How Zenit responded to Newcastle enquiries isn’t made clear, nor is it mentioned how much the Magpies would be will to spend.
Nonetheless, the interest is apparently there and Malcom could be a name to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
