According to a claim in the Turkish media, Galatasaray forward Ryan Babel is set to sign for Ajax on a loan deal despite interest from Newcastle United.
This week we covered reports the Premier League side could possibly sign the Netherlands international in this window and had contacted Gala via intermediaries.
Fantatik have reported on the latest developments regarding the future of Babel and they say he will fly to Amsterdam this evening at 19.20 ahead of signing a six month contact with Ajax. Again, the Turkish newspaper back up Newcastle United’s interest in the player but it now seems certain they will miss out.
Babel signed for Galatasaray last summer after his contract with Fulham expired. However, he’s not been able to replicate the form his showed when at Besiktas, and subsequently Gala have taken the decision to loan the player to the Dutch champions.
The signing of Henry Onyekuru on a loan deal from AS Monaco put further doubt over Babel’s future with the Super Lig club.
