On March 26th, De Telegraaf reported Newcastle United are a serious contender to sign Dean Huijsen.
According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, the Magpies aren’t alone as Liverpool are also chasing the Juventus player, who’s currently on loan at AS Roma.
Juve are looking to sacrifice a few players to raise funds needed to strengthen their midfield, and the 18-year-old’s name could be included in this list.
It’s claimed the centre-back is increasingly in demand as Newcastle, Liverpool, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are all keen.
The Dutch-born Spain U21 international has been a regular for the Giallorossi. He’s played 13 games for them so far, managing two goals and an assist in the process.
Roma have asked their Serie A counterpart to retain him for another season on a loan deal. That may not be easy because of the interest show by Newcastle, Liverpool and other clubs.
The newspaper states Eddie Howe’s side, the Reds and the two German clubs all have offers ready to secure the defender’s services. It’s claimed these teams will try and tempt Juve with a €30m proposal.
Gazzetta add it’s not given that the Turin club would accept a bid in this region but it’s possible.
This should give hope to the Premier League duo and others to secure Huijsen’s services in the summer.
