Newcastle United continue to track Allan Elias, but new reporting from Brazil suggests the Premier League club have little interest in matching Palmeiras’ latest asking price.
ESPN claim the Brazilian side now tell the market that the midfielder will not leave for less than €45m, a figure that immediately cools enthusiasm inside St James’ Park.
A source close to Newcastle United told ESPN that the club recognise Allan’s rise and the growing value of Palmeiras academy products, yet insist that “nobody will pay” the €45m demanded.
The Magpies still appreciate the 21-year-old and have kept him on their list, but the valuation creates a significant gap between interest and action.
Palmeiras, meanwhile, remain firm. They rejected a €20m bid from Zenit earlier in the year and believe Allan’s performances justify a far higher fee.
Clubs continue to approach Allan’s camp, but Newcastle United’s stance is clear for now. The Premier League side admire the player, yet they do not intend to meet the €45m price set by Palmeiras.
Other one side compromises then this one may be over already.
