Odysseas Vlachodimos won’t be moving to Anderlecht on loan from Newcastle United, despite reports to the contrary.
That’s according to La Capitale, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, who dismiss the idea of Vlachodimos moving to Belgium before the end of their transfer window.
Belgium’s transfer window remains open for another six days and that means their clubs, such as Anderlecht, continue to look to strengthen their squad despite the big leagues in Europe closing on Friday.
Reports in Belgium and England had therefore linked them with Vlachodimos, who claimed that the Greek international would be on his way.
The 30-year-old only moved to Newcastle from Nottingham Forest for €23.6m this summer as part of early deals to help both clubs deal with PSR issues.
He’s unlikely to be number one ahead of Nick Pope and that meant the window could be open for Anderlecht, but La Capitale say that isn’t happening.
According to their information from the Belgian club, there will be no new goalkeeper signed before the end of the window. They plan to continue with Colin Coosemans as their number one and perhaps Mads Kikkenborg as number two. They also have options for third place in the squad.
Thus, there is no reason for them to move for the Newcastle man and that’s one rumour they seemingly want put to bed.
