As Elye Wahi continues to stand out at Montpellier, it’s now time to see Newcastle United linked to the 20-year-old.
The Magpies’ interest is reported by Foot Mercato, who feature a story about all the attention the striker has been getting.
Despite Montpellier’s 5-4 defeat to Lyon at the weekend, Wahi scored the away side’s four goals, and that’s more than enough for the local media to highlight his form.
The striker now has 17 goals and five assists for the Ligue 1 side so far, and the list of attentive clubs is only growing.
Newcastle are said to be ‘very interested’ in Wahi, with the Premier League being said to be ‘conducive to the intrinsic qualities of the international hopeful’.
The Magpies, however, would face competition from Eintracht Frankfurt, AS Monaco, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and especially Arsenal, who’ve also been following the player ‘for months’.
It’s also claimed that Montpellier are set to demand at least €40m to let Wahi go. Now if Newcastle don’t act fast and he continues doing that well, we can now imagine how much more expensive the youngster can get.
