Eintracht Frankfurt remain in negotiations with Newcastle United over William Osula, despite a deal to sign Arnaud Kalimuendo.

That’s according to BILD. They cover Frankfurt’s efforts to overhaul their forward line this month. They say that despite Kalimuendo’s expected arrival on Wednesday, that won’t stop the search for a striker.

Instead, according to BILD’s information, sporting director Markus Krösche is working on multiple fronts. Newcastle striker William Osula is one of the players on his radar.

The German side have been trying to sign him for months, having agreed a deal for him in the summer transfer window. That was cancelled on deadline day when Alexander Isak joined Liverpool and Newcastle’s owners refused to sanction any other sales.

Unperturbed, Eintracht have been working on a potential deal in January since. A report at the end of December indicated it was still on, although Newcastle were slowing things down.

It seems that remains the case. BILD report that talks with the Magpies for Osula are continuing. However, for now, the Magpies are ‘resisting the move’. Why that is the case, isn’t made clear.

They’re perhaps unwilling to see Osula depart while they continue to get Yoane Wissa back to full fitness. Either way, it seems they’re holding Eintracht at arm’s length for the time being.
