Newcastle United’s Emmanuel Riviere is set to join La Liga club Osasuna, reports French newspaper L’Equipe on Tuesday.
L’Equipe say the 26-year-old will sign for Osasuna until the end of the season, with his Newcastle contract due to run out next summer anyway.
Riviere has failed to make an impact at Newcastle United since his €6m move from AS Monaco in 2014. The Frenchman hasn’t featured for a single minute this season, and quite clearly isn’t a part of Rafael Benitez’s plans for the season.
Newcastle have offloaded a number of players this season, and it seems Riviere is set to follow them.
Local media suggest Osasuna have the option to buy Riviere, but there is no mention of that in L’Equipe and unless Newcastle are extending the player’s contract, there’d be no need for the club to worry about that.
