As Newcastle United continue to be linked to Mallorca midfielder Kang-in Lee, we finally get to see how much the player would actually cost.
It’s Marca who today feature a story claiming the South Korea international has a release clause worth €17m, which is considered ‘perfectly’ affordable for Premier League clubs who want him.
Newcastle’s interest in Kang-in Lee is once again highlighted there, with the outlet claiming the Magpies are ‘the club most interested’ in signing him. There’s also some competition from England for the World Cup midfielder, not only from Burnley, but from unnamed Premier League sides.
Marca adds that ‘many’ other English clubs are keeping an eye on the midfielder and even sent scouts to watch Mallorca’s match against Atletico Madrid. That’s why the La Liga side are now ‘starting to fear’ that offers for him will arrive in January.
Earlier this month, another report from Spain claimed that Newcastle had ‘asked’ about the player and Mallorca valued him at €12m. Besides sounding like too little for the January market, that was also the amount on his Transfermarkt profile. That’s why we pointed out the Spanish club may request more, and this new report from Marca now brings more sense to this story.
