Earlier this month, we covered news from Viola News that spoke of interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa in Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode. Newcastle United have also joined the race for the 20-year-old.
The defender enjoyed a good breakout season with La Viola in the 2023/24 campaign, playing 26 times in Serie A and becoming a regular at the back under Vincenzo Italiano.
Considering his performances, it is no surprise that clubs abroad are keeping tabs on the Italian.
Corriere dello Sport today report that apart from Spurs and Villa, Arsenal and Bournemouth are also interested in Kayode. More recently, he has also attracted interest from Eddie Howe’s Newcastle.
There are, the report mentions, two reasons why an English side like Newcastle could be a viable destination for Kayode.
La Viola are currently in England for a pre-season training camp which would be helpful for any deal. Secondly, Fiorentina might have to make a player sale to ‘unlock’ potential incomings and if offers of around €30m arrive, they could end up selling Kayode.
The defender is ‘flattered’ by the interest from England and the idea of a Sofyan Amrabat-like exit (initial loan with an option to buy) hasn’t been dismissed.
