Newcastle United, Chelsea, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid have all been credited with interest in Benfica star Vangelis Pavlidis.

It was first reported by Now Canal in Portugal and echoed by others on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Record have also picked it up as Newcastle, Chelsea and the La Liga duo are on the front page of today’s newspaper.

Within the report, Record relay Now Canal’s claim and add that they have also confirmed interest.

It’s to be noted Now Canal are owned by Portuguese media conglomerate Medialivre, who also own Record and three other major newspapers.

The Greece international has scored 24 goals and registered 10 assists from 46 games this season. Record claim the striker is on the agenda of several clubs including Newcastle and the Blues.

The report states Chelsea are looking at the 26-year-old to compete with Nicolas Jackson, while the Magpies see him as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak.

Pavlidis has a €100m clause in his contract that expires in 2029. Benfica are referring to the clause and it’s highly unlikely the Premier League duo will activate it.

Serious interest from Newcastle United and/or Chelsea, plus the Spanish duo, sounds like wishful thinking from the player’s agent.
