Como’s Jacobo Ramon has been one of the best defenders in Serie A this season. The centre-back is now attracting attention from Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

The Spaniard joined the lakeside club from Real Madrid in summer 2025. He has established himself quickly, becoming a key player under Cesc Fabregas.

Ramon’s ball-playing ability has shined through, with the 21-year-old featuring 28 times in all competitions across the campaign.

It was a matter of time before Ramon would be linked with moves away from Como. Aston Villa and Newcastle United are now following him closely.

Magpies & Villa assessing player

Tuttomercatoweb’s Marco Conterio reports on the youngster, who is described one of the ‘great revelations’ in this Serie A campaign.

Jacobo Ramon plays like a veteran at the age of 21 and he is also praised for defensive abilities.

He has attracted attention from Newcastle and Aston Villa, who have been ‘closely monitoring’ his development in the last few weeks. This is their attempt to assess the talent’s potential and how far he has come in a short space of time.

Other European clubs are also keeping an eye on the player and they see him as a future star.

The real challenge is likely to come from Real Madrid, who have a buyback option in Ramon’s contract. The situation is similar to that of Nico Paz, as Los Blancos can sign the defender for only €8m in the summer.

The buyback is applicable for a total of three years, and the Spanish giants will have to pay a bit more if they re-sign him in 2027 or 2028.

Jacobo Ramon is an exciting talent

It would be fair to say that the Spain U21s’ star is one of the best young defenders in Europe. He could also soon be in line to play for the senior national team.

Under Fabregas, his qualities have reached a new level. Como themselves are challenging for a Champions League spot and it shows that Ramon can yet grow further.

He is playing in a stable environment and as of now, both Newcastle United and Aston Villa also guarantee that. Unai Emery already has one Spanish defender in his side in Pau Torres and that could be one reason behind his interest in Ramon.

All in all, things are looking bright for him. If he doesn’t end up in the Premier League, he will be at a bigger club soon enough.
