It’s with quite some disappointment that the Portuguese press has been covering reports from England which say Porto are still to find an agreement with Newcastle United for the transfer of Chancel Mbemba.
The original story came from the Newcastle Chronicle yesterday, who claimed that the Magpies are demanding at least £8m for the defender.
A Bola covers it today saying that ‘everything pointed to €7m’, so now the Dragons are struggling a little to match the new demands.
Still, there’s a bit of confidence coming from the publication. They recall that Mbemba has already agreed his personal terms with Porto, and the deal could be found ‘in the next few hours’.
A Bola mentions that Mbemba’s wish to move to Porto and play in the Champions League for them could help solve the differences between the clubs, especially because it’s very likely that he’s leaving St James Park this summer anyway.
