Newcastle United have ‘already submitted a very big offer‘ to Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy ahead of the January transfer window.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the Magpies are ‘very interested’ in the defender.
They report that the French defender has been followed ‘for a little while’ by Newcastle after three and a half years with Real Madrid.
They aren’t the only ones, mind, and there could be a nice little auction developing for his signature down the line, with Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City also believed to be keen on him.
Foot Mercato state that the former are ‘observing’ the player’s situation while the information regarding Pep Guardiola’s side could not be confirmed by the website.
It is Newcastle who are pushing ahead with a potential deal, and they have already made a ‘very big offer’ to the 27-year-old.
The details of that offer aren’t mentioned but any idea of a transfer is likely to be met with resistance by Real Madrid, who have the player under contract to 2025 and could even extend this as Carlo Ancelotti is satisfied with the player.
A decision is yet to be made on that front, though, something suitors like Newcastle are aware of, hence their efforts.
