We’re getting to that time of the season when players whose contract expire in the summer must quickly take a decision on renewing their deals or leaving their clubs.

The Italian media have been full of reports on these situations lately, and one of them is Calciomercato’s story on the future of Juventus defender Radu Dragusin.

They bring a piece today saying his renewal is getting complicated, and clubs such as Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are still ‘pushing’ for his signing following previous interest.

The Magpies are said to be there alongside Roy Hodgson’s side, RB Leipzig and Wolfsburg in the race for the 19-year-old.

With no big details on how far along Newcastle’s and Crystal Palace’s interest currently is, Calciomercato only highlights the chase from Wolfsburg, making it as if the German side were in the lead for the signing for the time being.

Dragusin has come through Juventus’ youth ranks and started getting his first chances under Andrea Pirlo this season, making four appearances for the first team so far.

With negotiations for a renewal now dragging for months, the chances of the Magpies or the Eagles signing him for free in the summer appears to be growing by the day.
