Newcastle United are one of the clubs in the race for Napoli star Victor Osimhen as his future looks set to be a hot topic in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to journalist Ciro Venerato, who has put the Magpies into the mix in comments relayed by Gol del Napoli.
Osimhen is currently one of the rising stars of Europe after a superb campaign that has seen him score 25 goals in 29 games in all competitions to date.
That’s continued his fine form from last year in which he managed 18 goals in 32 games in all competitions and increased the interest in his signature to boot.
Several of Europe’s top sides are believed to be keen on getting him, with their currently a lack of top-level strikers on the market.
Newcastle are not in particular need of reinforcement after spending big to sign Alexander Isak last summer, but Venerato believes they are part of the group of clubs looking at signing the Napoli star.
“Bayern follow the player as well as Newcastle, Manchester United and Chelsea,” he said.
“Everything is very open, and the footballer’s fate will be decided in June. It is probable, however, that the Nigerian could ask to be sold in the summer.
“I don’t think De Laurentiis will go below €150m. A figure that, considering the prices of the Premier League, does not seem unreasonable to me.
“Furthermore, together with Haaland, Osimhen is the most promising and young striker on the international stage.”
