Newcastle United players aren’t expected to rest after the season’s final game against Brentford on Sunday. As officially announced by the Magpies a couple of months ago, the squad is flying to Australia, where they’ll have a couple of friendlies.
With the Euros just around the corner, that situation turns into a concern for some national teams. And that’s highlighted by Swiss newspaper Blick.
The outlet describes the situation of Fabian Schar, who had been sidelined with a thigh injury until getting some minutes in Newcastle’s clash against Manchester United on Wednesday.
It’s said that instead of getting some rest which would help his recovery, he’s set to face some ‘travel stress’ by joining the squad which will go to Australia.
Even though Newcastle are still to confirm that the defender will be in that group, it’s said that in case they do want to take him, the national team can’t do anything about it.
Blick take the whole situation as ‘bitter news’ while they wait for the Magpies’ decision. It’s pointed out that UEFA will only force clubs to release their players on June 3rd, while the Swiss national team will start preparation on May 27th.
