Early on Friday, L’Equipe were reporting that Florian Thauvin was putting pressure on Newcastle to get a deal done with Marseille rather than Lazio.
The story came after reports from Italy that the Serie A club were close to agreeing a deal with the Championship club over the loan transfer of the Frenchman, but La Provence, Marseille’s local paper, have a different story.
While Thauvin is indeed in favour of a switch back to his former club once again, the player is getting tired of how long they are taking over the whole thing.
The Ligue 1 side are in a precarious financial position, and every move on the transfer market needs to be double, nay, triple checked to ensure everything works out, and the winger is growing restless.
With this in mind, La Provence refer state the player could start looking elsewhere, and refer to the Italian reports of Lazio’s interest, who are ready to greet him ‘with open arms’.
L’Equipe are optimistic, La Provence are pessimistic.
Out of the two, we’d favour the latter, just because of their close rapport with the club.
