Newcastle United and AC Milan are in the mix to sign Santos’ Ângelo Gabriel, according to multiple reports from Italy.
Operating across multiple positions in attack and midfield, the 18-year-old has two goals and eight assists from 46 matches in 2022.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Serie A winners spoke to the player’s agent, likely to find out the conditions needed to carry out his signing. If it were up to Ângelo, he would seal a move to the San Siro in January.
The Brazilian side are requesting €20-25m, which has become one of the problems for the Rossoneri. They haven’t made an offer yet but will use the teenager’s desire to play for them and try to close the deal for €15m.
It won’t be easy for Milan because of Santos’ stance and Newcastle interest. It’s claimed the South American club has already received a request from the Magpies, who ‘seem to be ready to invest’ around €20m on Ângelo.
Milan scouts have watched him in action on several occasions and believe he is going to be a ‘market man’. That’s according to Calciomercato, who state the Italian club plan to offer €15m to secure his services.
There is a distance between Milan and Santos since the latter want €20m plus bonuses to let go of their star. It’s explained Ângelo is liked a lot by Newcastle and other English clubs and the ‘Premier League could be his next home’.
Unless Milan meet Santos’ demand, they may see the player move to England.
