Newcastle United are interest in RB Leipzig duo Dominik Szoboszlai and Amadou Haidara and ‘recently’ sent scouts to watch the pair.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who say the pair have been scouted live by Newcastle several times recently in both home and away games, including the recent 2-0 defeat to Leverkusen on April 23rd.
The Magpies are planning ahead of what is likely to be a huge summer transfer window, in which it has been made clear they plan to bolster their squad for Eddie Howe.
That is almost a necessity with Champions League football now almost guaranteed, with Newcastle not only needing to strengthen their first team for that but their squad as a whole.
They’re being linked with players all over Europe as a result and it seems they’re showing an interest in Leipzig duo Szoboszlai and Haidara.
Sky say that, at the moment, they have learned that the Magpies interest in Szoboszlai is ‘currently greater’ than the one they hold in Haidara.
The German side are not interested in a sale at this point and Marco Rose has made it clear he is a part of his plans for next season.
Thus, they would need, according to their information, for the player’s €70m release clause to be met if they are to sanction a sale.
It’s debatable whether Newcastle would be willing to meet that, even if they have vast funds available for transfers this summer.
