As well as wanting to bolster their first-team with lots of big names if the takeover is completed, Newcastle United want to bring together all the best English youngsters under one roof, too.
That’s what Soccer Link are reporting on Wednesday on their social media channel, explaining the Magpies want to fill their youth team with talented players who could eventually have an impact later on.
One of their first targets to that end, according to the account, is Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka.
The 16-year-old midfielder, who plays for the Villains’ U18s, has been at the club since 2016 when he joined from Northampton Town’s youth academy.
Yet to feature for the first team, Chukwuemeka is reportedly ‘seduced’ by the project Newcastle are trying to put together, and would seemingly be tempted by the move.
Will that be enough for a player who has two goals and six assists in 14 U18 Premier League appearances this season?
That’s up to Aston Villa and their plans for him going forward.
