Five days ago, AS reported Newcastle United are expected to battle it out with Aston Villa to sign Juventus’ Arthur Melo. His agent, Federico Pastorello, has already said he’s willing to change clubs in the summer window.
The 26-year-old will have to return to the Serie A side after a loan spell at Liverpool. He could be set for another move to the Premier League, this time to the Tyneside club, who are making efforts to secure the midfielder’s services.
It’s claimed the Magpies could ‘ask’ the Turin club to take the Brazilian on loan with the right to buy.
The Old Lady signed Arthur from Barcelona in 2020 and the outlet adds there’s still €30m of the fee to be amortised.
Despite this, the report states Juve would be willing to let the South American leave on an ‘expensive loan’ of €5m, with a €20m option to buy and Newcastle taking care of the wages during his temporary stay.
This all sounds rather fortunate and convenient for Juventus, and the claim is perhaps motivated by hope rather than expectation.
