Last summer, Newcastle United signed Antonio Cordero, also known as Antoñito, on a free transfer and let him join KVC Westerlo on loan.

The winger has been restricted to 102 minutes from eight matches. Therefore, his loan stay in Belgium will be cut short in the winter market.

On November 28th, claims from Spain reported Deportivo de La Coruña are keen on signing the Newcastle United player on loan. A day later, AS explained he’s aware of their interest and is waiting for the Magpies approval.

Monday’s edition of Marca reports the 19-year-old will return to Spain in January.

Although earlier claims mentioned Deportivo, the newspaper now report he’s set to join Cádiz CF on loan.

Another Spanish newspaper, AS, covers Cádiz’s pursuit of the Newcastle United man. They state the negotiations are at an advanced stage but the temporary operation hasn’t been finalised yet.

This is likely to be done soon as it’s said Cordero’s move to the second division Spanish club is ‘imminent’.

Málaga Hoy also report on the attacker’s potential move to the Segunda División side.

After a disappointing spell in Belgium, Newcastle United has given him ‘full autonomy’ to decide his next loan move.

The Spain U19 international’s priority has been to return to his country. He has several options from the second division, including Deportivo. However, Cádiz have managed to beat competition to get ahead in the transfer race.

Sources close to the operation have informed Málaga Hoy ‘it’s 99% done’. There are a few details that need to be sorted out and there’s optimism Cádiz will get this transfer over the line.
