Juventus star Federico Chiesa is today again being linked with a Newcastle United move.
It had been a while since the Magpies were last called one of the main contenders for the winger, but that’s said today on TV Play.
As Eleonora Trotta talked about Juventus’ transfer market, she was asked about Chiesa’s future and claimed his future is completely open, with Newcastle showing up as one of the interested clubs.
“To date, as we have heard, the discussion on the extension is on standby because Chiesa wants to know and understand the future of the technical guide before making a definitive decision on his future,” said Trotta.
“It is obvious that in the Juventus plans there are two paths, extension or transfer in the summer with a suitable offer. Chiesa has a market abroad in the Premier League with Newcastle in particular, but there is also Bayern Munich. In Serie A, Milan had previously carried out a survey to find out the former Viola’s requests.”
Newcastle’s first links with Chiesa date back to 2020. Since then, there have always been rumours about that interest, although it was last summer that things got more intense.
Juventus were said to be expecting to make over €55m with his sale last year, but that never happened, despite the insistence from the local media that the Magpies could offer that much.
What makes the situation different this time is that Chiesa’s contract with the Bianconeri expires in 2025, which puts them in a delicate position. That’s why they may feel forced to accept some offers instead of running the risk of losing the player for free next year.
