Edinson Cavani will have an opportunity to leave Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent this summer after he failed to get a move away from the Parc des Princes in January.
Atlético Madrid and Inter Milan have been linked with the 33-year-old, along with Newcastle United.
According to FcInterNews, Inter have not made a formal offer or tried to persuade the former Napoli star to join them.
Cavani, on the other hand, signed a pre-contract with the La Liga side, worth €10m per season for two years, according to the claims. This deal was signed before the football was suspended due to the global health crisis in March and is ‘just waiting to be’ registered.
It’s not clear if the agreement still holds good because football finances are impacted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, the ‘only club interested’ in the attacker has been the Magpies.
Newcastle are expected to change owners, with their Saudi investors still waiting for the move to be approved. The report adds the club’s prospective owners want to make two or three big signings and this would include securing Cavani’s services.
FcInterNews are of the belief Newcastle are ‘beyond an exotic solution’ for the South American.
There’s no mention of the details of the Tyneside club’s proposal for Cavani and also whether or not the player would consider making a switch to St James’ Park this summer.
