Recent reports from England, after previous claims in Portugal, have suggested that Newcastle United are negotiating with Wolfsburg for the transfer of the Dutch striker Bas Dost.
As Sporting are also said to be in the race, the Portuguese media have been following the situation, and it seems they have an interesting update this Thursday.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola claims that despite Bas Dost’s desire to play in England, the striker has rejected Newcastle.
They describe the Magpies offer as “tempting” and give no reason why it was turned down. Given his desire to play in England, it can only be assumed Dost has an issue with the Championship.
Then again, the Portuguese press could well be biased in favour of Sporting.
Now the Dutchman is considering the possibility of joining Sporting. The Portuguese side reportedly offered €7m and Wolfsburg want €10m, so the clubs are still negotiating.
