Newcastle United are interested in Estudiantes winger Benjamin Rollheiser, according to reports from Argentina.
TNT Sports journalist Nicolas Latini claims the Magpies have an ‘offer ready’ for the 23-year-old.
It’s said Newcastle want to spend €10m on the player, who has 12 goals and five assists in 38 appearances for Estudiantes this season.
It turns out that the Magpies aren’t the only willing to take the attacker to the Premier League, as Aston Villa have also made approaches for his signing.
Another problem for Newcastle is that Estudiantes president Juan Sebastian Veron recently claimed that it’d take more to sign Rollheiser.
Quoted by TNT Sports, the club chief said: “If you have 15 million dollars in the bank, no problem.”
The report also points out that Estudiantes only have 50% of the player’s rights. That makes it more unlikely that they’d make big discounts for the sale.
Rollheiser was signed on a free transfer from River Plate in the summer of 2022, and there’s a bit of regret from the Buenos Aires side, now that he’s clearly worth a lot of money.
Now we shall see if Newcastle are actually placing that bid.
