Newcastle United have offered Bruno Guimarães a new contract until 2030 to keep him at St James Park.
That’s according to UOL, who report that the midfielder has received an extension offer from Newcastle this week.
According to their information, the offer would run until July 2030. That would take it beyond the World Cup that year. They’re trying to pre-empt potential offers from Saudi Arabia. Clubs have already approached him in recent months.
Newcastle consider Guimarães as a key player and want to lock him down. His current deal runs until 2028.
UOL have learned that Guimarães new contract would solidify him as one of Newcastle’s highest-paid players. That’s a position he’s held since Alexander Isak departed this summer.
The current deal is worth €10m per year. The new contract offer from Newcastle is worth €15m per year. Whether Guimarães is ready to sign it, isn’t made clear.
He’s been a key player since arriving in 2022 and is now a regular for Brazil also. Indeed, he was the standout player in the 5-0 win over South Korea on Friday, assisting the first goal.
Newcastle have now given him a decision to make as they look to get ahead of any potential transfer interest.
