Newcastle United are ‘obsessed’ with Juventus star Federico Chiesa and want to sign him ‘at all costs’, potentially in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Tutto Juve, who say the Italian side may be forced to sell at some point thanks to the player’s contract situation.
They explain that Chiesa is currently ‘evaluating the future’ at Juventus, where his current deal is set to expire in 2025 and is yet to be renewed.
That means he will soon be in the final year of his deal, a dangerous situation that needs resolving sooner rather than later as far as Juventus are concerned.
They want the player to sign a new deal, or they will absolutely be forced to sell him in the summer transfer window to avoid losing him on a free the year after.
They’re not the only Premier League side eyeing up a move either as Arsenal and Chelsea have thought about launching offers for the Italian too, knowing that he is evaluating his future in Turin.
Newcastle are ahead of them, though, and seemingly ready to spend their money in January to try and get a player they were also heavily linked with throughout the summer transfer window earlier this year.
Whether they could convince Chiesa into the move to St James’ Park isn’t mentioned, and their name appearing again certainly has something to do with the face contract negotiations are in the air with Juventus, but the interest is there nonetheless and unlikely to dampen down as we head towards January.
As we noted on Friday, transfer rumours when a player is close to a renewal are normal and can help secure a better deal.
