Milan Škriniar has a deal expiring at the end of this season and has confirmed his decision to not sign an extension at Inter Milan. His situation has attracted interest from several clubs and this includes Newcastle United.
That’s according to InterLive.it, who state the possibility of signing the defender as a free agent in the summer has pleased the Magpies.
In January, Newcastle moved through intermediaries to try to secure his services for free after this season.
Eddie Howe’s side are currently fourth in the table and are in contention to qualify for the Champions League next season. They have an ambitious project and show willingness to offer the Slovakia international an ‘important contract’ to join them.
It’s claimed Newcastle’s approach was ‘immediately stopped’ by the centre-back’s agent, Roberto Sistici. That’s because the representative already has an understanding with Paris Saint-Germain, who had tried signing his client last summer.
PSG are set to be Škriniar’s next destination and therefore, Newcastle’s approach was not entertained by him and his camp.
