At Mallorca since the summer of 2021 when he left Valencia on a free transfer, Kang-in Lee has caught the eye with his performances in Spain.
Newcastle were linked with the midfielder during the World Cup, and were told that €17m would have been enough to acquire his services.
No offer arrived from the Magpies, however, and the player ended up staying in Mallorca, which could be his last season with the La Liga side.
That’s according to Fichajes, who state the Newcastle target ‘opts to leave’ his club at the end of the season, and is ‘looking to take a new step in his career’.
He wants to leave La Liga, and clearly try his luck in a new league, although for that to happen, any interested club, whether it be Newcastle or others, will have to negotiate an exit with his club.
That’s because he’s under contract there until 2025, and if Mallorca avoid the drop once again, the player ‘is waiting to see if he will continue to play’ there or not.
It all depends on interested sides, but his desire appears to be clear, and it seems that if Newcastle come knocking, that would certainly make his day.
