Despite the signing of Alexander Isak and the form of Callum Wilson, as well as already having Chris Wood, it appears Eddie Howe wants another striker at Newcastle United.
The Magpies have been in fine form this season, showing great strength at the back, currently sitting third in the Premier League at the World Cup break.
Whether this continues for the rest of the season remains to be seen, but it’s certainly far more Newcastle fans were hoping for at the beginning of the campaign.
Still, Media Foot in France believe Howe wants an extra man to bolster his attack in January, with that player behind Jonathan David.
The outlet state that Newcastle are going to ‘make a new attempt’ to sign the Canada International by ‘making an offer’.
They explain that ‘after trying to sign him last summer’, the Magpies ‘aren’t letting go’, and while the amount they are prepared to put forward ‘hasn’t filtered’, it’s clear Lille will find it ‘very difficult to keep their striker’.
A lot could also depend how David does at the World Cup, with Canada set to face Belgium, Croatia and Morocco in the group stages.
