Newcastle United have made an ‘important poll in recent weeks’ for Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot, according to Calciomercato.
The 26-year-old has been a regular for the Turin club this season and Massimiliano Allegri has ‘never done without him’.
Despite being a ‘protagonist’, his high salary means he is one of the ‘transferable’ players for the Serie A side. The former Paris Saint-Germain man earns a net salary of €7m per year.
When describing the midfielder, at least on paper, they say he is ‘at the height of his career’, but in reality, the France international has failed to reach his potential over his years at Juventus.
If there is an offer in that region, Rabiot could leave Allegri’s side in January. At the same time, it remains to be seen what his mother, Veronique, who is also his agent, will ‘think about it’.
The Magpies’ ‘important’ approach gets a mention, but Calciomercato say Rabiot ‘hasn’t even considered’ Newcastle as the next destination.
If Eddie Howe’s side want to take Rabiot in January, they must first convince him and his representatives.
