The Italian media’s big coverage of the Champions League match between AC Milan and Newcastle United obviously did not end right after the match.
The local press is still talking about the game and how the Rossoneri should have come away with a better result following a good overall performance.
Some comments were now made by Middlesbrough icon Fabrizio Ravanelli on Mediaset Infinity. In quotes relayed by Milan News, the former Middlesbrough player claims Newcastle were unimpressive in their Champions League debut.
“Milan did a good first half, but was insufficient in the goal area. Newcastle were little, they didn’t even defend in their own department and Milan didn’t take advantage of that. Milan complicated their passage to the round,” said Ravanelli.
In a quite complicated group, Newcastle ended up finishing the first fixture in second place, as Paris Saint Germain beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0.
The Magpies’ next challenge in the Champions League is against PSG at St. James’ Park, and that will undoubtedly be a very important game for Eddie Howe’s side to stand firm in the fight for a place in the knock-out stage.
Before European football is back, though, Newcastle have Premier League clashes against Sheffield United and Burnley, as well as an EFL Cup tie against Manchester City.
