Last month, we covered claims from Belgium which stated Newcastle United have made Johan Bakayoko their priority target for January. It was also reported the Magpies are planning to make an offer to PSV Eindhoven.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri, writing in his column for Sky Sport CH, claims Newcastle have a keen interest in the winger.
According to Tavolieri, Newcastle ‘could act to convince’ the Eredivisie side to sign the 21-year-old in the winter market. He has a contract lasting until 2026 and the Dutch club are demanding €30m to sanction his sale.
PSV had promised to offer him an improved deal in the summer, but that hasn’t happened so far. This puts the player in the ‘best position’ to push for a transfer if there are any negotiations.
In addition to this, Bakayoko feels he’s prepared to take the next step in his career and Newcastle could be an option for him.
The journalist claims PSV are ready to listen to an offer, if Newcastle were to table one.
Bakayoko managed six goals and three assists from 21 games for PSV this season.
