On February 12th, AS explained Manchester United are ahead of other Premier League clubs in chasing Mohammed Salisu, and the Red Devils ‘have already asked’ about the Real Valladolid defender.

The Spanish newspaper didn’t reveal any English clubs apart from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Thursday’s edition of AS adds Newcastle United to the list of suitors.

The Magpies are mentioned when the report explained the two Premier League sides, along with Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid have joined the transfer battle for the 20-year-old.

AS’ online edition states United, Newcastle, Valencia and two Madrid clubs are all circling for the Ghanaian and everyone’s desire is to acquire Salisu’s services.

Cadena Ser also provides an update on the centre-back and it’s claimed Salisu’s agent, Juan Manuel Mata (Juan Mata’s father) remains attentive to all options for the summer.

Salisu’s contract at Valladolid runs down in 2022 and he has no plans to sign an extension. The defender has a release clause of €12m in his current deal.
