Out of the blue, Newcastle United are now linked to Portuguese winger Francisco Trincão.
The news comes from the Brazilian media, where outlet Torcedores had been speaking of Sporting’s interest in Fluminense winger Jhon Arias.
The website writes that the Lions are afraid of losing Trincão at the end of the season and are already making their moves to get him replaced in the summer.
Sporting only have Trincão loaned from Barcelona, but can make the deal permanent for just €7m, and could certainly make some big profit if negotiating him in the next transfer window.
Torcedores claims that Newcastle are one of the Premier League clubs who threaten to sign the 23-year-old this summer.
Since joining Sporting last summer, Trincão has nine goals and three assists in 41 appearances.
If he were to join Newcastle, he would be making a comeback to the Premier League, as he’s already spent time in England when featuring for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He was loaned by Barcelona to Wolves in the 2021/22 season, but failed to have an impressive season at Molineux, and ended up returning to Spain.
