On Thursday, AS explained Newcastle United push the most to sign Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio this summer.

He has less than 12 months left on his deal. The winger is open to the idea of staying at Real Madrid’s for one more year and leaving as a free agent in 2023.

The La Liga winners, who have not proposed a renewal offer, will not let the 26-year-old stay next season, without an extension.

That’s according to Friday’s edition of Sport, who back up AS’ claim to state Newcastle are now among the most interested teams. However, the Magpies have not sent a firm offer to Los Blancos so far.

Reports in Italy have stated AC Milan are keen on the former Mallorca man. Sport, after relaying that, give their take on the Serie A winners’ conditions to sign him. They state the Rossoneri want the player and the Champions League winners to lower their claims.

Due to this, Real Madrid prefer to sell him to England, where Eddie Howe’s side are in the mix.

The Spain international will have to join pre-season preparations if he fails to quickly sort out an exit. Asensio is aware he will have less game time, if he stays at the club.

Asensio could have an ‘important role’ as a starter at Newcastle [and Milan], which is his goal, to secure a place in Luis Enrique’s Spain squad for the Qatar World Cup.

Sport add the player wants to improve his salary and that will be more likely at Newcastle than Milan.

The Tyneside club can offer better sporting and economic conditions to Asensio, but so far, they have not made any firm proposals to sign him.
