Despite having Callum Wilson as the player to either partner or back up big summer signing Alexander Isak, Newcastle United continue to be linked with a new striker ahead of the transfer window.
The 31-year-old’s contract at St James’ Park does expire next summer, meaning he could be sold this summer if the right offer comes in, at which point a replacement would be needed.
One of the men being pushed forward to take that role is RB Salzburg’s Noah Okafor, according to Il Mattino, who claim Newcastle are providing competition to other clubs to sign the Switzerland international.
This comes amid claims the forward could be Napoli’s answer to replacing Victor Osimhen in Naples, where he could be the Nigerian’s ‘ideal’ substitute.
However, it’s said that clubs from the Premier League, including Newcastle, are following him.
As for his price, they reckon he would cost around €25m, making him very affordable for a club like the Magpies, who could end up splashing a bit more cash this summer to build on a very successful full season under Eddie Howe.
