It appears that Newcastle United’s interest in Dean Huijsen, currently on loan at AS Roma from Juventus, has forced the Turin side into some sort of action.
The Magpies have been linked with the Spain U21 international for a while now, and Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that a sale could take place in the summer.
It’s pointed out that signing a midfielder remains the priority at Juventus, but the addition of a new defender could end up being a thing if players, like Huijsen, leave.
Gazzetta recall that Manchester United like Gleison Bremer, but that the ‘considerations’ from teams like Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig in the youngster also come into play.
That’s why Juventus are ‘increasingly active’ on the defender market, with names such as Riccardo Calafiori high up on their list, alongside Maxence Lacroix, and are preparing for ‘any eventuality’ in the coming weeks and months.
It isn’t stated whether Newcastle will concretely make a move for Huijsen, but it’s clear that the St James’ Park residents’ lurking has been noticed, and action is being taken over in Italy to ensure they are covered on the off chance he does make the switch to the Magpies or Germany.
