Newcastle United are ‘intensively involved’ in negotiations for VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, with reports in England claiming they’re leading the race.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who cover the latest claims from England and somewhat back them up in the process.
Guirassy has been one of the sensations of the first half of the Bundesliga season, with a tally of 19 goals and two assists in 16 games in all competitions so far.
That’s put him on the radar for a number of clubs in Europe, particularly after it became public knowledge that he has a more than affordable release clause in his contract.
The latest reports from England have indicated that Newcastle are more than happy to pay that clause to get the striker, while adding that Guirassy would prefer to move to St James Park over other options.
FT don’t back that up, but they do say that Newcastle are one of several sides to currently be ‘intensively involved’ with Guirassy.
That doesn’t mean he will end up in the North East, of course, but the Magpies are very much in the mix for the player and a transfer could be on the cards.
That is seemingly being felt in Stuttgart too, with FT’s information, via sister site Foot Mercato, reporting that they’ve already eyed up Evann Guessand from OGC Nice as a replacement.
