Newcastle United will have a two-week period in which to move for Fiorentina striker Moise Kean, as his release clause is only valid from 1st to 15th July.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover the striker today and insist there is a ‘concrete possibility’ that Newcastle will pay the striker’s release clause this summer.

They explain that with the suitors lining up for Alexander Isak and the Swedish striker potentially moving, Newcastle may need to find a replacement for their star man in the coming months.

Kean is being watched as he’s continues to shine this season, with a brace against Germany for Italy continuing that in this international break.

Newcastle have reportedly put him on their list to replace Isak and contacts are already underway with the striker’s agent.

A ‘real negotiation’ with Fiorentina may not be needed either as he has a €52m release clause in his contract. Kean asked for that to be included when he joined Fiorentina from Juventus in the summer.

However, that clause is not open throughout the summer and can only be exercised from 1st July to 15th July. Until that point, it will require negotiations with the Italian side and the same will be the same afterwards.

We would be surprised if Newcastle would want to pay that given his somewhat rocky history and the fact this is his first consistent season to date.

However, if Kean is at the top of the list as a replacement for Isak, perhaps they’re willing to pay such a figure to get him ahead of any competition.
