Newcastle United are in the mix to sign Atalanta star Rasmus Højlund, according to claims from Italy.
The Denmark international scored a hattrick in his country’s 3-1 European qualifier victory over Finland on Thursday. That’s only helped him draw more attention from clubs across Europe.
This is highlighted by Tutto Atalanta, who then state Newcastle and Napoli are among the clubs chasing the forward.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have not yet received any offers for the 20-year-old, but they are waiting. It’s clear that offers starting from at least €40-45m are needed for Højlund to change clubs in the summer.
After starring for Denmark, Calciomercto have a report on the player. When discussing his suitors, Newcastle are mentioned. It’s claimed Eddie Howe’s side have been interested in Højlund ‘for a month’ and have already sent their scouts to closely observe him.
They add the €50m fee may no longer be enough for Atalanta president Antonio Percassi to ‘dream of a maxi capital gain’ from the star’s potential sale.
Højlund joined Atalanta from Sturm Graz last summer and he’s managed eight goals and two assists from 25 matches in his debut season.
