Newcastle United have ‘exhaustive reports’ on Braga forward Vitinha and could make a move for him this month as a replacement for Christ Wood.
That’s according to A Bola, who believe the Magpies could make a late bid for the striker after scouting him extensively.
The newspaper explains that there is ‘no shortage of suitors’ for the striker in the Premier League and they have taken notice of his tally of seven goals and three assists in 17 games in Liga Portugal this season.
Newcastle are one of them and have compiled ‘exhaustive reports’ on the player this season and now have a slot up front to fill after letting Chris Wood join Nottingham Forest on loan.
That has led to a belief in Portugal that their money could soon be on the way to Braga to convince them to sell their prized asset.
The Magpies will have to match the player’s €30m release clause, though, with the Portuguese club making it clear they will not take a penny less than that. They have already rejected a €19m offer from Nottingham Forest because of that.
Newcastle are believed to be ‘keen to sign’ someone after Woods’ departure, however, and there is a belief that Vitinha is now at the ‘right age’ to make the ‘great leap forward’.
Whether that is to St James Park remains to be seen but they have certainly done their research and are known to be fans.
