Newcastle United are in the picture to sign Real Sociedad’s Jon Aramburu in the summer window.

The right-back has been a regular for the La Liga side and played 40 games this season. He can also operate as a left-back and in the heart of the defence and perform in a back-four or a three-man defence.

D Sports state the 22-year-old is one of the more coveted defenders in Europe as Newcastle are among his suitors.

The Venezuela international’s profile and versatility attracts interest from several clubs, including the Magpies, Atlético Madrid and Inter Milan.

Eddie Howe has Tino Livramento and Kieran Trippier two right-backs at St James’ Park, and the 34-year-old England international’s contract expires in 2026.

The report states the Premier League club are anticipating Trippier’s departure after this season and have identified Aramburu as a target to replace him.

Inter are looking at the fullback to replace Denzel Dumfries while Diego Simeone wants Aramburu to strengthen Atlético’s defence. It won’t be easy for any of these clubs to sign him.

Earlier this year, the player extended his contract until 2030 and has a €60m clause. The report states interested parties have to make a ‘substantial investment’ to sign Aramburu in the next window.

Newcastle have to offer a significant fee and overcome competition to sign the ‘most promising fullback’ in Europe.
