Newcastle United are interested in SK Sturm Graz youngster Alexander Prass and ‘duelling intensively’ for him.
That’s according to Krone, who report that the 23-year-old ‘will probably pack his bags soon’ as clubs make their move for him.
The newspaper reports on a ‘hot lead’ when it comes to the future of Prass, who many are expecting to move on at some in the near future.
They explain that Prass was recently a spectator for Sturm Graz’s pre-season clash with Porto as he has only been back in team training since Monday as he battles back from an injury.
There is a growing belief that a return could be a short lived one, though, as sports director Andreas Schicker is ‘probably nearing the finish line’ on a transfer for the player.
Sturm are conducting ‘very concrete negotiations’ with Bologna for the player but Newcastle have now entered the race and are ‘vying intensively’ for the ‘Sturm jewel’.
They have gotten ‘close’ to the player recently and are now battling Bologna for his signature, with reports on the 18th in Italy valuing the player at €15m.
Whether Newcastle are willing to pay that, or indeed are paying that figure, isn’t mentioned but it seems they’re now battling Bologna for Prass so this could be something that develops quickly in the coming days.
