Newcastle United are considering a move for Athletic Club Bilbao youngster Junior Bita.
That’s according to Relevo, relayed by ElDesmarque, who state the Magpies ‘do not lose sight’ of the 17-year-old.
Bita initially joined Athletic’s academy after a spell at Santutxu. He’s been with the La Liga side since 2015 and has climbed up through their ranks over the years.
Earlier this season, Athletic allowed the midfielder to go out on loan to CD Basconia, before he returned to the parent club this year. He’s been featuring for Bilbao Athletic [the Basque side’s reserve team] in the past few weeks.
Newcastle have set their sights on the Spaniard and would be ‘interested in incorporating’ him to their academy next season.
Bita will turn 18 years of age on June 8th and until then, Eddie Howe’s side won’t be able to bring him to England.
According to Transfermarkt, his contract will expire next month. Newcastle would be in a position to sign Bita for free in the summer.
