Over the last week, the Italian media have reported Newcastle United have identified AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw as a target for the summer window.
At the weekend, Tuttosport stated the Magpies have relayed their interest in the defender to his agent.
Sport Mediaset, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, state Newcastle ‘don’t give up’ on the 22-year-old and they ‘insist’ on signing him.
The Italian club hadn’t planned to sell the centre-back this summer, but they could open the door for his exit if there’s a convincing proposal.
Last season, Thiaw made 30 appearances in all competitions, of which 21 were in the league. The report claims his performances weren’t ‘100% convincing’, which is why the Rossoneri haven’t included him in the list of non-transferable players.
With Newcastle keen, it’s claimed Milan could give the ‘green light’ to sell Thiaw if they were to receive an offer around €25-30m from the Magpies this summer.
Recent claims have talked about the possibility of including Kieran Trippier as part of the deal for Thiaw, but this option has been ruled out.
Newcastle have had an ‘open channel’ with Milan since they took Sandro Tonali away from the San Siro last summer. This could help the Tyneside club to try and secure a deal for Thiaw.
