French striker Sébastien Haller was in impressive form last season at Eredivisie club FC Utrecht. The 22-year-old scored 24 goals last season, and has two in two games this season.
At one point last season, Haller was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham, but that never materialised and it now appears a Championship club are keen on signing him.
According to L’Equipe on Thursday, Newcastle United are interested in signing Haller. In a couple of paragraphs in their transfer round-up, L’Equipe say Newcastle have already contacted FC Utrecht to know the conditions of the transfer.
Portugal’s Sporting CP are also apparently interested in signing Haller as they’re looking for a replacement for Islam Slimani, who could be leaving. There was also an offer earlier from China, but the player had no interest in that destination.
Ealier, France Football reported Everton are interested in Haller, and had even opened negotiations with the Eredivisie side, but it seems there isn’t any update on that.
