Newcastle United and Chelsea have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori.
On Thursday, Tutto Juve reported Spurs have rushed towards signing the defender, who is keen on joining Juventus in the summer window.
According to Corriere di Bologna, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, Tottenham aren’t the only Premier League side as Newcastle and Chelsea are also in the picture to sign him.
It’s claimed the centre-back has ‘aroused interest’ from the Premier League trio, who have made contact with the Serie A side in the ‘last few hours’.
Real Madrid have watched the Italy international in action against Spain, and the defender scored an own goal in Azzurri’s 1-0 defeat to La Roja on Thursday.
Calafiori excelled under Thiago Motta’s orders at Bologna last season. The manager has left them for Juve, and this is another factor that may convince him to pick the Turin club over Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Corriere di Bologna say Bologna have reiterated their desire to hold on to the player. This could make a potential deal even more difficult for the English clubs.
